As we can see, social media influences our daily life a lot, as it touches all the spheres of life. In order to avoid negative consequences, we should use the influence of social media in a positive way and do our best to get only benefits. Everyone will agree that this type of media makes our life more interesting, vivid, and colorful. But sometimes we can feel that social media has taken our lives by storm and the internet became such an integral part of our lives there has been a huge debate on how much social media and the internet dictates our life choices and our routine which brings us to what does technology and social media in particular have on our daily lives and on our health whether it may be mental or.

We know social media apps have become a life necessity for us when our phones are the first things we reach for in the morning and the last thing we check before sleeping.

Some of us can see that having the internet around us is so important and how it has made it easier than ever to be in contact with your family, relatives, and friends. You can create an event to gather the people you love or share with them your small and big achievements. You have countless opportunities to meet new friends online and maybe even meet them in person later, opportunities you would have never gotten otherwise. Some people even meet the love of their life through social media. Also, we all know that no modern business is complete without its online Marketing and Sales department. In fact, it is one of the most important channels to present your business and maintain your persona, one that will affect your credibility in front of clients and customers if not well-maintained. According to Social Media Daily, the fastest way to connect business with customers is through social media marketing. Businesses should ensure to keep their brand-awareness, through a solid base of online reach that will boost statistics. Thus, creating a fan base, which eventually increases traffic and conversion. Taking the example of Facebook & Instagram marketing strategies also help increase user engagement because of the convenience it offers when responding to messages. Because of the way these two social media platforms’ advertising options are designed, it is easier for you to pinpoint your target audience online, and market your content to this audience. In short, internet marketing is important because it helps you align with the customers while broadcasting your business objectives and goals. You not only influence buying decisions, but you also create a solid foundation for your business to flourish throughout the years. As we cannot forget how COVID-19 has changed online shopping because due to the lockdown many businesses have temporarily shut down and traditional shopping becomes difficult, or may even be scary, people are increasingly inclined to shop online. The fact that consumers were already embracing Amazon and other online retailers with open arms made this transition considerably easier.

. “The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the shift towards a more digital world. The changes we make now will have lasting effects as the world economy begins to recover,” said UNCTAD Secretary-General Mukhisa Kituyi. Online revenue growth as of April 2020 was up 68%. There’s a good chance that this trend will continue in the post-quarantine world. The advantages of online shopping aren’t going to disappear even when retail businesses reopen fully.

They think that the impact of social media has only a positive side and they cannot see the negative one because in their eyes the invention of social media platforms has changed the life of the whole planet. Not only the planet, but you can also experience the events happening in space the moment they are happening -all from the safety and comfort of your house. It has definitely made our lives and communications easier and opened every sort of opportunity to grow, innovate and dream for the future.

However, we are just starting to realize that, day by day they are having a bigger and bigger grip on our lives, and they are controlling the way we think and act. Social media and online news outlets rain us with news and narratives in an attempt to control the way our minds work.

Social media is now and more than ever dictating what we wear how we live what we eat what we watch and how we live …have you ever noticed the way that, as soon as we look something up , something as simple as a piece of clothing, a car brand , a perfume fragrance we get stormed for days or in some cases weeks with ads related to that product , social media has nowadays become the most powerful tool big tech giants and companies use to crawl their way into people’s heads and lives. It has in fact succeeded in controlling our fashion senses, our favorite food, our perspective and opinions on global issues. As soon as u look an opinion up all search engines give u every possible result that shows your opinion is right and it would never show you the counter evidence which makes everyone be sure that they are right and everyone else is wrong and don’t u ever think that that’s a coincidence…that is in fact most probably one of the strongest “weapons’ used nowadays due to its strong grasp on everyone connected to it . Wars are now being fought online we can even notice that by using hashtags and stories as weapons and a way to conquer and to get the rest of the world on that side by sharing , posts, , videos and pictures or even donations online on social media platforms and other dedicated websites …We also must mention how wars are won by conquering the ways of communication the other side possesses a prime evidence of that is how quite recently how Israeli forces bombed the Palestinian news building in an attempt to suppress its ability to communicate and share with the world the horrors experienced by the innocents. It is also quite easy to witness how as soon as the world got a hold of videos the narrative shifted and that is in fact one amazing evidence on the power that the internet and social media holds.

One of the biggest problems we face today is how much drawbacks it is having on our mental health ..these so called “Instagram influencers” are creating fake lives and fake body images and it is quite literally ruining some people’s lives especially with the unreal or edited bodies which plants a lot of insecurities in most people. Especially ever since the pandemic started and spending all day at home is an obligation it almost seems like we cannot escape this issue.

It unfortunately led a lot of people to depression because they think they are inferior due to not meeting that perfect body image or that “fun” lifestyle they witness every time they open a story or see a friend’s post.

The world is just starting to shed light on this crisis, and it is honestly tragic to see how people are starting to determine their worth based on how many likes or views they get not for who they really are but on how their image on social media is perceived. Everything has today become so superficial. Very few people care about what humans are on the inside. Everyone has become so caught up with how they look on the outside if their clothes are up to fashion standards if they look good and appeal to everyone else rather than care about who they are on the inside and try to better themselves. Most people are just trying to hop on trends while nobody is trying to be special and unique.

We all witnessed the 5 year growth period of social media and how quickly we became slaves of it. People share their weekend, their food, their clothes and anything else from the most important to the most ridiculously unimportant things. It’s just how things go right now. Being present in our culture means being present on social media. We get addicted to likes and social media impressions as if they actually meant something in real life. There is nothing wrong with the platform itself. No social media network did anything wrong, the problem is the way a lot of people use it and the role it plays in their lives. We all know a person who constantly seems to be on the hunt for approval, posting a pretty picture of him or herself every day. Using the platform this way will just make a person feel lonely and not connected. Yet the good news is that there is a way out. You can use social media very effectively and sensibly, without becoming a lurker. So let’s put aside all the messy feelings that social media ignites in us, such as jealousy, fear and the constant need for approval.
